ECOLIGHT in cooperation with the partner "Institute of Horticulture of the Lithuanian Center for Agrarian and Forest Sciences" implements the project “Development of an Intelligent Indoor Plant Growing System” No. 01.2.1-LVPA-K-856-01-0189 under the measure “Experiment” of the Operational Program No. 01.2.1-LVPA-K-856.
The aim of this project is to ensure the development of the company by investing in R&D infrastructure and carrying out R&D activities for the development of new products. The development of an intelligent indoor plant growing system aims to address the problem that useful research results on the effects of light on plant growth are only analysed by a small, more educated group and are not widely exploited due to the lack of user-friendliness.
It is planned to solve this problem by developing an artificial intelligence solution that, by analysing current and forecasting future microclimate conditions in indoor research, would create maximum yields for individual crops to achieve "recipes" and provide guidance to users or automatically manage their facilities in such a way that microclimate conditions are necessary to achieve the maximum yield of that crop.
During the implementation of the project, investments will be made in R&D infrastructure, as well as research to solve scientific uncertainties and experimental development will be carried out by creating a prototype of the intelligent indoor plant growing system HORTIMAS and producing a test product batch.
The creation of this solution will make it possible to increase the efficiency of plant cultivation in greenhouses and other enclosed spaces. Thanks to the implementation of the project, the R&D infrastructure will be expanded and investments in research and experimental development will increase significantly.
In addition, the scope of cooperation between business and research organisations in the country will be increased. It will also contribute directly to the creation of new jobs for highly qualified researchers. The total budget of the project is 552,326.34 euros. EUR 339,813.20 funding from the European Regional Development Fund has been allocated for the implementation of the project.
The estimated duration of the project is 35 months.
